Prince George County Aka Continuing Student Scholarship Program 2019

The Chapter Programs of Kappa Epsilon Lambda

Kappa Epsilon Lambda is a steady provider of the four major national programs of our great fraternity: Project Alpha, A Voteless People is a Hopeless People, Go-to-High-School, Go-to-College, and Brother's Keeper. Through local implementations of these four national programs, we strive to guide the constituents of the county in a positive way by helping the youngest to the oldest live with pride and confidence and to be more productive people within their communities.

Alpha Academy

Alpha Academy

Leadership Development Institute (LDI)/Alpha Academy

The Foundation's solution to aid young men in their development is our comprehensive mentoring program, Alpha Academy, which promotes continual involvement and communication to assist our mentees in becoming better citizens within their communities. Our primary focus is to encourage mentees to pursue post-secondary education, and our target audience is male youth of middle and high school ages 12-19 and grade levels 7-12.

Mentors serve as positive role models and meet with young men two Saturdays per month during the school year for3-hour periods, and all of the learning is in support of fostering positive values, discipline, accountability, and an attitude towards self-development, high academic achievement, and ultimately, employment. This is accomplished through interactive activities with experienced facilitators and speakers, as well as engaging discussions about current events.

In addition to inspiring and motivating the youth to pursue higher educational goals and other types of post-secondary educational opportunities, the program also offers a variety of mentoring sessions on topics such as:

  • The proper use of social media and developing time management skills in preparation for college and life;
  • Financial literacy and entrepreneurship;
  • Cultural awareness and Black History; and
  • Science, Technology, Engineering Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) activities.

Another objective of the program is to expand the mentees' analytical, critical, and logical skills so that they will be able to engage in intelligent discussions and make better decisions for their lives. This is achieved through the implementation of the following 3 key youth mentoring components:

  1. Educational development,
  2. Employment readiness, and
  3. Leadership development.

Finally, the Alpha Academy offers opportunities for mentees to participate in a voluntary oratorical contest that allows them to sharpen their public speaking skills and to win prizes.

College Chapter Alumni Advisors

HZ Awarded

The Brothers of Kappa Epsilon Lambda and Eta Zeta.

As an alumni chapter, Kappa Epsilon Lambda serves as the alumni advising chapter to the College Brothers of the Eta Zeta (HZ) Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. seated at Bowie State University.  We not only try to help in their matriculation but also provide guidance in their growth in Alphadom. The wisdom shared between the college and alumni brothers help them to graduate and then matriculate directly into alumni chapter life with the same energy and drive that only an Alpha man possesses.
